To foster research development and interdisciplinary collaboration, our university offers over 20 school-level common laboratories. These laboratories, managed by the ICT Creative Technology, are freely accessible for faculty and students through a registration system. Additionally, the Office of Research and Development compiles a comprehensive database of valuable research instruments available on campus, allowing researchers to easily search and borrow necessary equipment, thereby improving the accessibility of research resources. The school-level common laboratories integrate cutting-edge technologies and professional experimental courses, maximizing high-end scientific and technological research capabilities. Moreover, the Office of Industry-Academia Cocreation has established five new startup incubation zones, offering resources and guidance for emerging businesses and research-driven startups.
Physical Facilities for Interdisciplinary Research Teams
To enhance research development and interdisciplinary collaboration, our university provides over 20 school-level common laboratories, managed by ICT Creative Technology, which are freely accessible to faculty and students through a registration system. Additionally, the Office of Research and Development compiles a database of valuable research instruments available on campus, allowing researchers to search and borrow equipment to enhance research efficiency. These common laboratories integrate cutting-edge technologies and professional experimental courses, maximizing the university’s high-end scientific and technological research capabilities.
The university’s research facilities and resources are detailed as follows:
● Common Laboratories and Equipment
The university’s ICT Creative Technology integrates emerging and forward-looking technologies, designs professional experimental courses, and optimizes research spaces. By maximizing the efficient use of resources, these laboratories serve as key hubs for high-tech research and development within the university.
● Instrumentation Center
The Instrument Center of the Office of Research and Development compiles and publicly shares information on valuable research instruments, which are available for inquiry and registration. In addition, individual colleges provide shared instruments and research tools for loan, including the College of Engineering, College of Life Sciences, and College of Optoelectronics.
● Startup Incubation Areas
The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center of the Office of Industry-Academia Cocreation has established five startup incubation areas (Xuefu, Silicon Conductor, Guangfu, Boai, and Zhiheyuan Incubation Areas) to support research-driven innovation and entrepreneurship. Each incubation area offers unique environments and resources to support startup growth.
● Information Technology Service Center
The Information Technology Service Center provides access to Taiwan’s academic network (Hsinchu-Miaoli District Network) and Taiwan’s high-quality academic research network. By leveraging a small network to connect to a global network, the center facilitates cross-border research and international collaboration. Additionally, future plans include transitioning toward an all-fiber network infrastructure to further enhance academic connectivity.
● Shared Space Rental
The university offers shared spaces for research, academic events, and interdisciplinary collaboration: (1) Library Facilities – Venue rental services for international conferences, research rooms, multi-functional learning spaces, shared workspaces, and exhibition areas. (2) Arts and Culture Center & Zhi Xing Yi Art Space – Dedicated spaces for faculty and students to conduct cross-disciplinary activities. (3) College-Based Shared Spaces – Various colleges offer space rental services to facilitate academic exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, such as the College of Humanities Arts and Social Sciences and Social Sciences and College of Hakka Culture.
